Home » About Bathurst Soaring Club

Bathurst Soaring Club is one of the largest gliding clubs in Australia, located less than 2.5 hours’ drive from Sydney and 3.5 hours from Canberra in the spectacular Central West area of NSW.

For over 50 years, we have been offering members and visitors alike the chance to share in the joy of gliding, taking in a bird’s eye view over the Bathurst region and the iconic Mount Panorama.

We operate from our own private airfield, Piper’s Field, on the outskirts of Bathurst township.

As a non-profit organisation, Bathurst Soaring Club is dedicated to ensuring our members, guests and visitors can fully embrace the experience of glider flying. All amenities are provided by the club and are operated on a voluntary basis by our members, which helps keep operating costs to a minimum and makes gliding accessible to everyone.

Our club is also much more than just somewhere to glide. It is a community and a family, complete with an active social calendar and special events throughout the year. We look forward to welcoming you into our community and sharing the amazing experience of gliding with you!

Bathurst Gliding Club is a registered entity with the Gliding Federation of Australia, the regulatory authority for gliding in Australia under the supervision of the Civil Aviation and Safety Authority (CASA).
